Rachel Roy is the founder and creative director of her eponymous brand. And she is a tireless activist who uses your voice to encourage change and design the life she wants to live. Established in 2004, Rachel has built her ready-to-wear and accessories business to become a globally recognized brand with product categories including contemporary, zigzag, outerwear, jewelry and swimwear.
She is a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Rachel founded Kindness Is Always Fashionable, an entrepreneurship charity platform to help artisans around the world create sustainable income for their families and communities. In 2018, Rachel was named UN Women’s Champion for Innovation, working at the United Nations to advocate for gender equality and focus attention on these and other related issues.
Rachel nurtures young design talent globally through her work with Who’s Next/Vogue Mexico, WoolMark Prize, and CFDA incubator programs. She is a consultant to World of Children, a national nonprofit organization serving underprivileged children.
Rachel was honored by the Accessory Council with the ACE Award for Best Brand Launch as well as Mattel’s 10 Women to Watch and several more stylish accolades including Vanity Fair’s Best Dressed List. Rachel has also been honored for her innovative brand and film work by AdWeek Media and the LaJolla Fashion Film Festival.Rachel was a contributing columnist for the Huffington Post and InStyle. Rachel’s work has been featured on CNN, The Today Show, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, and many other publications. In 2015, she wrote, Design Your Life. In 2019, Rachel and her daughter Ava Dash co-wrote a young adult novel set in India, 96 Words of Love.
