Eleanor Lambert was an American fashion publicist. She was the founder of New York Fashion Week, the MET GALA, and the Council of American Fashion Designers on the list of the best international clothing. She was instrumental in increasing the importance of the American fashion industry and in the emergence of New York City as a major fashion capital.Lambert moved to New York in 1925 and worked briefly for an advertising agency in Manhattan. In the mid-thirties, Lambert was the first press director of the Whitney Museum of American Art and helped found the Museum of Modern Art and the American Art Merchants Association. Jackson Pollock, Jacob Epstein, and Izamo Noguchi were some of the many artists she represented.
In the forties of the twentieth century, Lambert founded the list of the best international clothing, the City Fashion Cults Award (later became the C.F.D.A) awards, and New York Fashion Week. In 1959 and 1967, the U.S. The Department of State asked her to introduce American fashion in Russia, Germany, Italy, Australia, Japan, Britain, and Switzerland.
In 1965, she was appointed by the President to the National Council on the Arts of the National Endowment of the Arts. In 1962, she organized the Council of American Fashion Designers (CFDA) and remained an honorary member until she died in 2003.
In 2001, the CFDA established the Eleanor Lambert Award, which is presented for “a unique contribution to the world of fashion and/or worthy of special recognition to the industry, to four Vanity Fair editors.Shortly after her last public appearance at New York Fashion Week in September, Lambert died in 2003 at the age of 100. Shortly after her death, her grandson completed a documentary about her life.

Fashion historian John A. Tiffany was directed by Lambert.
